Welcome

Welcome to the Idyllwild Garden Club! We serve the beautiful mountain communities of Idyllwild, Pine Cove, Mountain Center, Garner Valley, Poppet Flats, Pinyon, and more. Our club offers programs, meetings, and events to help new and experienced gardeners navigate the unique challenges and opportunities of gardening in our area. We have a cooler environment in the summer and a winter wonderland in the winter, which provides some great opportunities as well as obstacles for gardening. Browse our site for information and pictures to get ideas for your own garden. Be sure to check back for updates on meetings and events. We also have a partnership with the Idyllwild Community Garden, where gardening classes are held. Come join us and enjoy the bounty of our earth!

What the Garden Club does

The Idyllwild Garden Club is an organization that was founded in 1956 and currently has 112 members. The club holds member meetings on the first Wednesday of each month from April through October, as well as a holiday celebration in December, and focuses on guest speakers discussing topics related to mountain gardening. The club also has a board of directors that meets monthly and is open to all members. Additionally, the club has been active in maintaining the grounds of the Historical Society Museum and has an after-school program for students called Junior Gardening, which teaches them about planning, planting and enjoying gardens.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The objective of the Idyllwild Garden Club shall be the beautification of Idyllwild, advancement in gardening, support of the protection and conservation of native plants species, education and research of plant materials, upkeep of any IGC gardens, and optional participation in community cultural pursuits

OUR OBJECTIVE:

We generally plan to have several public events each year when possible. Traditionally, these occasions include the fun, annual spring Idyllwild Mountain Garden Tour, and in the fall our Idyllwild Discover Mountain Gardening event with displays, native plant and bulb sales as well as programs and speakers focused on mountain gardening.

OUR PEOPLE:

All our members are very welcome to join in! We have numerous opportunities to participate, help out and volunteer at our meetings, events and also serve on the board. With this significant size in membership, many hands can help make light work!
